Brandon Bird: Geek Artist [Obsession]

So last week Aint it Cool posted a Black Friday guide filled with all kinds of awesome wants. But the one thing that interested me the most was this painting by artist Brandon Bird

It's called "No One Wants To Play Sega With Harrison Ford" and it's effing amazing. Who thinks of that?! My kind of person is who. Another favorite of mine? His sketch entitled "Evolution of a Leading Man"

Genius.

Other favorites of mine are "Lazy Sunday Afternoon" and "What Nat Saw."

According to his site, Bird graduated from UCSC in 2002, was the artist in residence at Cornell from 2004-2006 and now works out of California, "enjoying thinking about Transformers in his spare time."

It looks like his next definite solo show is in August 2009, but more opportunities to view his work should arise before then. In 2007, he participated in the I am 8 Bit show in Los Angeles aka art show I would have killed to attend and has also been a part of two Crazy 4 Cult shows.

Be sure to head over to his site and check out all his paintings. He has a little something for pretty much any kind of geek.

Side Note: Crazy 4 Cult is also worth checking out - they showcase some really fantastic artwork, all based on Cult Film. Here is one of my favorites called "Deppictions"
