D.C. Critics Awards [Oscar Watch]

The Washington D.C. Film Critics announced their favorites of the year today. I'm jumping up and down over here because this list marks Heath Ledger's first American win for his performance as the Joker! Slumdog Millionaire took the big prize, which means the film is 2 for 2. Hrm. I really did like this movie a lot, but Best Picture of the year? I'm not there.

Here's the complete rundown

Best Film
Slumdog Millionaire

Best Director
Danny Boyle, Slumdog Millionaire

Best Actor
Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler

Best Actress
Meryl Streep, Doubt

Best Ensemble
Doubt

Best Supporting Actor
Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight

Best Supporting Actress
Rosemarie DeWitt, Rachel Getting Married

Best Breakthrough Performance
Dev Patel, Slumdog Millionaire

Best Adapted Screenplay
Simon Beaufoy, Slumdog Millionaire

Best Original Screenplay
Jenny Lumet, Rachel Getting Married

Best Animated Feature
Wall-E

Best Foreign Language Film
Let The Right One In

Best Documentary
Man On Wire

By the way, those last three awards there get a huge WOOOOOOOOOOOT. Mostly Let The Right One In. Cause we all know how I feel about that one :).

As for the other awards, Mickey Roarke & Rosemarie DeWitt were both pretty phenomenal, so I'm happy with those. Haven't seen Doubt yet, but I'm sure Meryl Streep did an amazing job cause, you know, she's Meryl Streep. And just too much Slumdog Millionaire for my taste.

Don't forget - The Golden Globe Noms are announced on Thursday. Still shaping up to be quite the interesting awards season.

Ecstatic for Let The Right One In. I can't to see Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler.
