Previously On Lost [Etsy Geek Search Of the Day]

Today's entry?

In honor of last night's stellar episode of Lost,

"Dharma Initiative"

Today's results?

Today's recommended buy?

Perhaps the toughest decision yet! Today I'm gonna change it up and give you my top *three* recommended buys. From most expensive to least expensive

Dharma Clock - $35

This is a great clock. It is 10 1/2 inches by 10 1/2 inches. It sticks out from the wall about an inch and a half. It keeps great time. Hanso technology makes it run up to a year on one AA battery.
The clock face is surrounded by 12 images of various official Dharma emblems. Each individual photo is acrylic encased for protection. This is for the true collector.
Your clock will come fully assembled ready to hang on any wall, it also has a built-in, swing-out stand in the back that can be used to quickly turn this into a desk or table clock.

Dont Forget to Push the Button - Set of 5 Double-Sided Ornaments - $25

set of 5 double-sided ornaments inspired by that awesome crazy island!
each ornament is actually 2 different ornaments!
each has a glyph on one side and a number on the other.
each ornament measures about 2.75 x 3.5 inches.
the numbers sides read 108 00 (every 108 minutes!)
and the glyphs sides show what happens when you dont push the button!
if you would like one of these as a key ring, just let me know which one and i can put up a listing for $6!

Dharma Initiative Stations Rubics Cube - $10

This is a regulation size rubics cube featuring the Dharma Stations from the TV show LOST. It is a working model but should primarily be used for display purposes. I'm not sure how many turns and twists the cube can take before the decals wear down. Very colorful, fun limited use piece.

Oh, Dharma Initiative [WANT]

I've seen the Dharma smoking ad everywhere, but I never knew that there were FIVE other vintage designs lying around here! So I'm finally posting about them. Cause, man, these are too effing cool.

How did this dude make these?! Why are they so awesome?! Can I have one please, for my wall? I'll take any! What the hell! Okay, new goal: Find a way to have one of these ads printed as a poster for my room. I don't know how to do those things, but I'll figure it out. See full post

Ajira Book a Flight Cracked! [LOST ARG]

If you've been getting the Dharma Special Access emails or saw this post then you know a brand new Lost ARG has begun! It involves Ajira Airways and Lost fans all over the world had spent days deciphering clues and sharing information with each other via message boards. The goal was to find out exactly how the "Book a Flight" section should be filled in. Clues were in the form of a photo that flashed during a Season 5 promo (pictured above), hints from Lindeloff & Cuse in the DSA emails, the info on the Ajira homepage and a boarding pass you can turn into an Oragami ball. And being really smart with a computer.

The info to fill in in the Book a Flight section, how it was figured out, and what was revealed about the future of Lost - after the jump :)

1) One Way
2) From: Los Angeles, CA (We know it's flight 316 - flight 316 leaves at 11:30am. When the home page flashes the time and weather of LA, the time is 11:30. Therefore we know the flight is departing from LA)
3) To: Guam (From Origami Solution, plus the HEX code in the About Us section is "Where America's day Begins", Guam's motto)
4) Departing: 1/21/2009 (Season 5 Premiere date, in photo from Season 5 promo)
5) Flight #316 11:30am (Flight 316 in photo, 316 is the name of an episode, HEX codes reveal passages from John 3:16 & page 316 of Ulysses.)
6) Adults: 10 (not sure why - some say Oceanic 6, plus Ben (or Walt), Locke, Desmond and you - the one booking the flight)
7) Children: 0
8) Promotional Code: 112114111109111 (From the Sky Club Card on the home page - numbers converted by smart people becomes "Promo")

Enter this information and get taken to a seating chart.

Whenever you click a certain number of times, a new image pops up providing potential spoilers for season five. They are as follows, info courtesy of Nickb123 from Octogan Global Recruiting.

Third seat selected - a shot of LAX airport.
4th - code N824
10th - a departure timetable.
15th - a shot of an airport lounge (Ajira logo in the background on the wall).
24th - an image of a young woman (DSA spoiler).
34th - an image of a man (DSA spoiler).
35th - the "lamp post" DSA logo.
36th - your seat number will be accepted and you can download a new boarding pass.

Here is my boarding pass (note: they are all the same)

Here are screen caps of all the photos you see for a split second after the clicks:

Right now the big questions are: What does N824 mean? And what does it mean that the departures screen cap shows Flight 316 going to Guam AND Hawaii?

More updates when I discover more!

Brand New Lost Mystery to Uncover! [Dharma Special Access]

New Dharma Initiative Special Access video! This week is some more Q&A from loveable duo Carlton Cuse & Damon Lindeloff.

Details on what was discussed as well as some tidbits on a brand new interactive Lost promo (complete with website and season five clues!) after the jump!

Question one:

DL says good question, they've unearthed an original song from the 70s and obtained the rights. I had to look up what this meant. Apparently it's a band that is oft referenced on Lost. For the exact references, click here.

Question two:

CC & DL joke about it being a screw up in the costume department, but in fact, it's deliberate and we will find out the answer in season five.

Question three:

The guys joke about what Ben's personal ad would look like, then admit they never really thought about Ben as a love interest. Though yes, he does have a crush on Juliet, so we may see more of them in some way.

Question four:

CC says many questions came in about the statue and DL confirms that this question really does get asked the most. And the answer is we will see the four toed statue again in season five and more extensively in season 6.

Question five:

CC says it was long planned and they were looking for a way to draw sympathy towards Ben from the audience. CC goes on that though characters are often taken hostage, no one ever expects the hostage to actually get killed, so they knew it would be shocking.

The Q&A then ends and the video fades to an ad for Ajira Airways, with a link to their website. The company's tagline is "Destiny Calls" and part of what they offer, according to the website, is an $87 flight to a mystery location.

Today, this was posted to the Ajira website, describing just what kind of company they are,

Welcome to Ajira Airways, a new kind of flying. We take our passengers from the whirlwind of their world into the wild possibilities of this infinite planet. Dreams are made in the atmosphere, and we’re here to make them yours. So never say never to saying goodbye to little pillows, peanuts and kicked seats. Your living room has grown wings and is starting over in a surprise locale.

Get lost in the world with groundbreaking promotions like Destination: Destiny that keeps your flight destination a mystery until you get there. We’re changing the way people think about travel - this isn’t vacation, this is your life... escaped. Let us deliver your destination by revealing your destiny.

The skies have no limit with our new destinations beginning January 21st. So go on an adventure anywhere on the globe and re-imagine your world to be as big as ours. No Borders, Now Boarding

If you head to the website, you'll notice a couple of things. For one, the boarding pass seems to be covered with Dharma symbols & heirglyphics from the hatch. Apparently the Adventures page features a link to instructions on how to turn the boarding pass into an origami ball...those who have completed this so far notice a focus on GUM, the FAA code for Guam.

Plus, what's this about?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

and notice the date in the bottom right corner...hmmm

Also, here's some computer speak I don't understand - but one of the HEXes for the website, when translated into text, is from John 3:16 (316 is the name of episode 5.07) and another HEX when translated into text is a passage from page 316 of Ulysses, which Cuse & Lindeloff said someone would be reading this season in the last DSA video.

Today they also posted an offer for an Ajira sky club credit card as well as four "adventures" you can buy - Polar Adventure, Island Adventure, Swimming with Sharks & Excavation: The Ruins. All of these options were posted by Antonio B. McCutcheon and the name on the sample credit card is E.M McCutcheon. So what's McCutcheon mean? Well it's the name of the whiskey Charles Widmore drinks. Coincidence?

To find more of these and other theories and clues as to what the bigger picture is, head on over here and tune into ABC on January 21st to find out what the hell is actually going on.

P.S. Ajira in Islam means "eternal life after death". Hrrrm.

Damon Lindeloff Only Wears Geek Shirts [Dharma Special Access]

Another Dharma Special Access video was sent out to members of the Initiative today (hai I'm a bus driver, how is you?), this time covering one of the special features on the Lost Season 4 dvd. Here are some of the highlights of this weeks special access

-On the DVD, there is an option to watch all the flash forwards from season four in order
-That feature also has footage of future Lindeloff & Cuse warning them how to not screw up the end of Lost - The peak below shows us that Lindeloff moves on to sports shirts in the future

Future Damon & Carlton

-At the very end of the DSA we are treated to a brief flash of two new characters, that I used my apple shift 4 prowess to screen cap and post after the jump. There, you can also find the complete clip. Enjoy!

Happy Holidays From Your Friends At Lost [Dharma Special Access]

***Spoiler Alert***

Today marks week four of the Dharma Special Access exclusive footage. Below is the email I received a couple minutes ago from Damon Lindeloff & Carlton Cuse.

This week the always entertaining Cuse & Lindeloff answer viewer questions whilst wearing santa hats.

-David from New Jersey asked if Ben meant EVERYONE who was once on the island and is now off must come back.

Cuse responds that there is intentional ambiguity in the way Ben's dialogue was written, so much so that the characters too will wonder who exactly must return. But fear not, the show WILL answer the question definitively.

-Heidi from Belgium asked which scene they find to be the saddest one from the entire show.

Lindeloff said Charlie's death & explained why

-Stephanie from Texas asked why in season 3 were the Others building a runway.

-Lindeloff said it either doesn't matter or it's critical to season 5 and we'll see. Lindeloff guessed doesn't matter, Cuse guessed it crucial to the plot. Whoever is right gets to punch the other in the stomach.

-Nathan from Alabama asked which came first - the smoke monster or the Dharma Initiative.

Lindeloff said the monster came first

-George from England asks if Jacob is the heart/physical manifestation of the island and if they saved him by saving the island

Cuse says that wasn't the plan but it is now :)

Then we were treated to another sneak peak from the season premiere, this time featuring Jack AND Ben. Both videos below.

Damon Lindeloff & Carlton Cuse Get High For This Week's Dharma Special Access

Okay, probably not, but it's possible! Here is part of their email from this week

See what I mean? With the onomatopoeia? These guys are my favorite.

This week's DSA video focuses on the Lost Book Club and provides some hints for what's to come. In episode 5.07, entitled "316", Ben will be reading James Joyce's Ulysses. Lindeloff & Cuse said there are at least two reasons the episode is called "316" and for fun, they read a passage from page 316 of Ulysses. Check out the video below and join me in wishing we could go grab some beers with these guys.

By the way, that new Dharma Station Logo they mention in the email?

Looks to me like a lamppost or beacon of some sort. Thoughts?

P.S. Lindeloff & Cuse are also giving away a free Namaste ringtone for 48 hours. Text "Namaste" to 77888 and things will occur. But it's only available until December 10th, so get on that shit! See full post

This is Depressing

Got my test results back from the Dharma Initiative. Thought I'd share...

Mini Bus Driver. I repeat. Mini Bus Driver. Oh and if you can't catch the department they recommend me to, it's the Human Services Division.

Seriously?! BUS DRIVER? Human Services, yet not a sexy receptionist position?! But a bus driver?! No thanks, Dharma.

A fellow Lost watcher did point out to me that in real life, I wouldn't have gotten the position of Head Scientist either, as I don't have a single skill or drop of knowledge when it comes to anything remotely scientific. I mean, I could maybe discuss a few metaphysical theories with you (Schrödinger's cat! Heidegger Principle! Occam's Razor!) for a half second, but that's about it.

Fine. You win this time, Hans Van Eeghen. I'll drive your bus. And I'll drive it well. Asshole. See full post
